Brothers Union vs Kalabagan Krira Chakra, BKSP Ground 3, Savar

Bring invited to bat first, Brothers Union made a brisk start to the match. Runs were coming in quick, but Shahriar Nafees departed with 36 on board in the sixth over. Following this dismissal, Imrul Kayes and Tushar Imran put on 126 more on board. Imrul Kayes batted a wonderful 67, while Brothers skipper Tushar scored yet another fifty, scoring 77 today.

Mashrafe Mortaza was quite expensive with the ball today, but his side’s bowlers did well to keep Brothers to 262 only. Dewan, Sharifullah, Razzak and Masakadza each took two wickets in the process. Shahbaz bowled well with innings-end figures of 10-1-38-0, and Masakadza continued his wicket-taking run I today’s game as well. 10-0-43-2.

The chase was planned well initially, Shadman and Jashimuddin putting up a 56-run opening stand. After both departed, Masakadza and Tasamul batted wonderfully enough to take their side on the brink of victory. Both partnered a 122-run stand, before Tasamul fell for 45. Masakadza batted on and eventually played his second century innings of the season, but wickets started tumbling with the fall of Mehrab Hossain Jnr’s one.

Cricket Coaching School vs Victoria Sporting Club, Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium, Fatullah

Cricket Coaching School eventually picked up their first win of the season, beating favorites Victoria Sporting Club by 53 runs in a rain-affected encounter at Fatullah. The CCS-chase was reduced to 35-overs and a revised target was set after rain held progress of play twice in their innings.

Opting to bat first, a new opening pair came down for CCS in the form of Pinak Ghosh and their skipper Rajin Saleh. The opening stand added a vital 84 runs, which actually set the framework for the rest of the innings. Pinak Ghosh was among some runs today, scoring 42 before getting trapped in front. Rajin Saeh also scored 42 and was dismissed to a nick to the keeper.

Saif Hassan displayed his fine form yet again, batting to a marvelous 78, with a flurry of shots all around the ground. He added 98 runs with his favorite batting partner, as it seems, Salman Hossain. Salman made 41 just before he hit back to Kamrul Islam getting out caught.

None of the others could contribute much more to the total, and what looked like a 280+ target to be set by CCS was held back to 259 all out. Kamrul Islam and Chaturanga took 4 wickets each, while Suhrawardi bagged 2 wickets for him.

The chase was given a speedy start, 44 already on board in the fifth over, but a wicket fell then. Suhrawardi was the first to go, bowled by Saleh Ahmed Shawon Gazi. Mazid departed an over later to the same bowler, scoring 39 off just 28 deliveries, and scoring 38 of those runs from boundaries-8 fours and a six!

The rest of the side could not add much vital runs to the total, thus Victoria fell short by a considerable amount of runs in the end. Mominul’s departure initiated the sudden fall of the wickets, the score becoming 72-2 to 73-5! Nadif Chowdhury looked to add some resistance, but could not hodl it for long, yet managed to pick up his fifty in quick time.

Nadif was out for 50 off 44 deliveries, and then in the end, Dolar Mahmud played a cameo of 29 runs off 17 balls before being out as the last batsman, handing CCS their first win by 53 runs (D/L). Saleh Ahmed Shawon Gazi was brilliant with the ball again, finishing with figures 7-1-15-4, and was the Player of the Match.
