On
a day when two giants lost their matches, Kalabagan Cricket Academy
clinched their first win of the season and quite convincingly. Prime
Bank and Prime Doleshwar were the other two winning teams for the day.
Mohammedan Sporting Club lost to Prime Doleshwar today, levelling points with them at the top of the table. Prime Dolehswar clnched a comfortable 6-wicket win, but still sits second to the aforementioned in terns of Net Run Rate.
Being invited to bat first, Mohammedan found themselves in a tough situation from the start. Both the openers were back in the dugout with only 5 on board, then a third wicket fell with 16 runs on board. Tharanga was the third one to go, not being able to continue with the form he was in. Mushfiqur Rahim also failed to put up a responsible knock from him, falling down to Doleshwar skipper Farhad, bowled.
At this point of the game, Naeem Islam took charge and added 77 runs with Ariful Haque in the fifth wicket. He added 55 more runs with Nazmul Hossain and scored a resilient hundred for his side before being the third victim of Farhad Reza. Mohammedan could only manage 188 on board losing all their wickets. Farhad Reza and Al-Amin picked up three wickets each, while Rejaul Karim bagged 2. Farhad was yet again brilliant with the ball, 10-1-26-3.
The chase was executed rather smoothly by Prime Doleshwar. Imtiaz Hossain bagged yet another fifty, initiating a 51-run opening stand and 72-run second wicket partnership with Robiul and Raqibul respectively before falling down as the fourth wicket scoring 88 runs. Nasir Hossain and Rony Talukder steered the rest of the path, both staying unbeaten at 37 and 12 runs respectively.
Farhad Reza was adjudged the Player of the Match for his 3-26 with the ball.
Dhaka Abahani Limited vs Kalabagan Cricket Academy
Abahani’s bad patch continues, as they suffer a defeat to Kalabagan Cricket Academy today, who picked up their first win of the season in a rather convincing manner. Despite putting up 282 on board, Abahani lost the match by 3 wickets and Kalabagan got home with 19 balls to spare.
Tamim and Avishek Mitra came out to bat after Abahani opted to bat first winning the toss. They put up a 88-run stand and at this point looked like putting up a massive total on board. Tamim was the first to go, unfortunate to have missed out on yet another fifty falling short by only 2 runs. Liton Das was yet again not among the runs, while Avishek Mitra bagged a fifty and scored 63.
Abahani’s middle order was yet again brilliant with the approach, Manoj Tiwary being included in today’s side. Tiwary scored 40 runs off 50 balls, while Shanto added 37 vital runs to the cards and partnered 49 runs between them. Mosaddek Hossain played a timely 42-run innings and Abul Hasan raced to 22 off 16 with 2 sixes.
Abahani managed a decent total on board. Kalabagan CA skipper Mahmudul Hasan was the pick of the bowlers with 3-52 in his 10 overs. Jatin took 2 wickets, while Miraz and Noor Hossain bagged on wicket each.
It was Mahmudul Hasan’s all-round performance that guided Kalabagan Cricket Academy to their maiden win this season. He did his part with the ball, and hit a brilliant century with the bat. But initially Irfan Sukkur provided the expected start. The scoreboard displayed 31 in just 4 overs when Irfan departed for 30! Jatin and Mahmudul Hasan batted to a 77-run third wicket stand before Jatin was out for 43. Miraz departed shortly afterwards, but to no harm.
Myshukur could not add much to the total, but then again there was another fifty-run stand in the sixth wicket. Mahmudul and Taposh added 78 runs between them, in the process Taposh added a quick 47 runs himself. Mahmudul Hasan picked up his century eventually, and scored 106 before falling doen to Saqlain. The side neared the target as their skipper departed and it was an easy task from thereon.
Mahmudul Hasan was expectadly the Player of the Match for his 3-52 and 106.
Prime Bank Cricket Club vs Legends of Rupganj
Prime Bank Cricket Club defeated Legends of Rupganj by 60 runs at the BKSP Ground 3 in Savar.
Being invited to bat first, the usual happened through the bat of Mehedi Maruf, who yet again provided his side with a brisk start. Yasir Ali was sent up the order to open with Mehedi, but the experiment proved wrong as he got dismissed early for 2 runs. Sabbir Rahman was also not among the runs today, but Mehedi Maruf’s devastating batting kept the runs coming thick and fast.
When Mehedi departed scoring 75, the scoreboard showed 119-3, which clearly indicates how much he dominated the scores with his 64-ball innings, hitting 3 sixes and 9 fours in it. His departure did not slower the rate, rather kept the runs coming quite well, via the bats of Nurul Hasan and Sachin Rana.
When Rana was out for 40, he already added a good 98 runs with Nurul Hasan, who was batting brilliantly today. Nurul eventually scored a fabulous century, settling at 108 before being out in the 48th over. His innings consisted of 7 fours and 2 sixes as well. Prime Bank put up a very decent 299 runs on board, setting Legends a target of 300 to bat on.
Soumya gave a start, but failed to continue with it, falling down for 17 runs only. Mizanur and MIthun followed back shortly and Rupganj was into some early trouble. Skipper Mosharraf Hossain has been batting well throughout the season and thus came up the order today as well. He added only 25 to the score and then there was no real partnership following this.
Jalaj Saxena scored 52 at the top and Asif Ahmed batted a 47 in the middle. Sachin Rana took 4-37 in his 8 overs and Rubel bowled brilliantly for his 2-24 in 7 overs. Nurul Hasan was adjudged the Player of the Match for his magnificent hundred.
